In Memory of a Gallant Soldier
Albert E Shepherd VC
of the King's Royal Rifle Corps
Born January 1897 - Died October 1966
He was awarded the Victoria Cross, the Croix de Guerre
With Oak Leaf and the Medaille Militaire in 1198
For valiant efforts beyond the call of duty
"He was small in stature - but a giant among men"
This plaque was donated by "Awards for All" Lottery
Funding - Under the auspices of
The Royston Royal British Legion - 2008
Albert is also remembered on the Old Lychgate, which has been relocated behind the War Memorial in Royston.
