A great job done here a superb site befitting the memory of the fallen.
I am researching a possible family member although I am in contact with the Gt Grandson of Cpl Thomas Knight, DOD 12 Oct 1917 Reg No 39650, 1st-7th Bn, West Yorkshire Regiment (Prince of Wales Own).
Born in Curdworth, Warwickshire abt Apr 1879 to parents John Knight (1844-1908) and Hannah Knight (Nee Caldicott 1849-1931).He resided in Monk Bretton at some point as his Marriage Banns were read at the church there on 29 Sep, 6 & 13 Oct 1912, we have to date only discovered this record of these Banns as indication that he lived in that area.
He actually Married Annie Elizabeth Cox at Castle Bromwich Parish Church, Birmingham, Warwickshire on 22 October 1912.
My purpose here is two fold: -
1. There is a link from his name in a list on your site but the details are for a Cpl Thomas Patrick Knight, perhaps this needs correction.
2. We wonder if there might be any further information in the area regarding his work, place of residence from when until etc etc any information would be wonderful.

I will email you - but just for other readers - there are TWO Thomas Knights on the Monk Bretton Memorials - I think the man you are referring to is the second one - listed on the memorials as Pte, but on the Commonwealth War Graves Commission site as Rifleman.

Hello John,
Pte (Rifleman) 39650 Thomas Knight was my Great Grandfather and is buried at Nine Elms British Cemetery, Poperinghe, Belgium.
As far as I know he went to Monk Breton to be a miner. He had two sons, Mark and Keith (my Granddad). Keith Knight lived in Castle Bromwich, Birmingham and worked for the GPO.

I have been looking for my Grandfather on a memorial.I cannot tell you feeling I had when I saw his name.Charles Gratton sometimes the spelling is Grattan.He died on the 28/5/2018 and is buried in Gwalia cemetery Ypres.West Flanders.Belguim
He had a wife Sarah Ellen Gratton and two sons.Charles my father and Horace.I will visit the memorial if I can.

Hi Pam,
How wonderful! I am glad we have been able to help you find your grandfather. The three memorials at Monk Bretton, the plaque in the church, the memorial book and the outdoor memorial on Cross Street all carry a very similar list of names so please do make sure you check all three.
Charles Gratton is also remembered on the Buckley Street Chapel's Roll of Honour.
