Lived at the Station Inn, Silkstone Common. Employed at Pollitt's Butchers, Market Hill, Barnsley.
His brother Horace Bramall went down with the Aboukir in September 1914 and is remembered on two war memorials in Silkstone. Frank Bramall, was the son of George and Elizabeth Bramall who had run the Station Inn, Silkstone Common, died of wounds on 4th or 5th May 1917. Before the war he had worked at Pollitt's Butchers, Market Hill, Barnsley. He must have made his soldier's will in favour of his sweetheart because Mary A. Sanderson receives his back pay and war gratuity. She posted a death notice for Frank on 26 May 1918 and an In Memoriam notice for him the following year. She was, as far as I can tell, a shop assistant, who also lived on Market Hill. Frank's father died in 1918, and his mother Elizabeth in 1895 (his father remarried to Alice). His brother Horace went down with the Aboukir in September 1914 and is remembered on two war memorials in Silkstone. His brother Eli had emigrated to Australia and had served with the Australian army in the war. An older brother had died aged 11 in 1896. Other than step-mother Alice and sweetheart Mary there was no-one left in Barnsley to put Frank's name forward for commemoration on a memorial. I wonder what happened to Mary?
