Frederick White Private 58945 King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry Died of Wounds 8 November 1918 in France. Frederick was born in Carlton, near Barnsley, in 1892. His parents were Charles White and Rebecca (nee Wake). His mother died in 1896 and is buried at Carlton. His father later went to live Wombwell with his married daughter. Frederick married Margaret Barraclough in 1914 at St George's, Barnsley. They had three daughters, but one died in infancy and is buried in Barnsley Cemetery. Margaret received a pension for herself and two daughters of 25/5 (£1 5s 5d) a week and did not remarry until her daughters were both over 20 years old. In 1938 she married James F Cushworth, himself an ex-servicemen. Margaret died in 1972. Frederick is not remembered on any war memorial in Barnsley that we know of.
