SAMUEL GAMMONS / 8th East Yorks Regt, / the beloved son of the above / who died of wounds / in France Decr 10th 1916 / aged 27 years. / Also the above named / MARIA GAMMONS, / who died Jan. 12th 1935 / aged 83 years. //
 

Samuel is also remembered on the Monk Bretton War Memorial, Cross Street.

He is buried in Varennes Military Cemetery in France and commemorated on the Commonwealth War Graves Commission website.
