Further information:
"The statement [on the plaque] is accurate for the date when it was installed in 1920 according to the 'Faculty'. But misleading in that whilst Wombwell 1783 Company were recognised Cadets attached 1st Sheffield Cadet Battalion attached to the (West Yorks.) from 5/9/1912; they were not affiliated the King's Royal Rifle Corps until 1917 in recognition of the 16th Btn. KRRC efforts at 'High Wood'; which makes research difficult especially when the first name on the list William Hirst; was actually a 2nd. Lt. with the 14th York and Lancs. 2nd Barnsley Pals."
